Meeting of representatives of microfinance organizations in Istanbul

On May 29, 2019 Yuri Malafey, Project Manager of “Improving Access to Financial Resources of the Rural Population of Belarus” Project, implemented by RMC with the support of USAID, took part in a summit of microfinance associations in Istanbul (Turkey). This event brought together representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Northern Macedonia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Microfinance Center (Warsaw) (MFC).

The meeting participants shared best practices in improving access to finance for individuals and small businesses, and identified priority areas for regional interaction among microfinance associations for the coming year. The leaders of the microfinance market in our region took with interest an information about RMC experience in microleasing for microenterprises in rural areas, as well as RMC proposals for the regional cooperation in the fields of consumer protection, the use of digital technologies and other areas of contemporary microfinance.

After the summit, Yuri Malafey held talks with the MFC management on future joint actions.
